Chengdu Open Tennis Tournament Set for September 17 Kick-off

The ATP250 Chengdu Open is scheduled to take place from September 17 to 24 at the Sichuan Investment International Tennis Center, according to reports from the event's press conference on August 12.

The Chengdu Open is hosted by the Chinese Tennis Association and the People's Government of Chengdu Municipality and organized by the Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Sports, the Shuangliu District People's Government of Chengdu Municipality, and Chengdu Culture&Tourism Development Co., Ltd.

"The Chengdu Open is set to offer fans a blend of entertainment and a delightful, unforgettable experience," stated Tournament Director Luiz Carvalho. The event will showcase a stellar cast of global top players, emerging Chinese talents, and renowned figures in the tennis world, introduced by Luiz Carvallo.

The first wave of players confirmed to participate in the tournament, as announced at the press conference, features world-ranked seventh Polish sensation Hubert Hurkacz, the bronze medalist in men's singles at the Paris Olympics Lorenzo Musett, and renowned French tennis player Gael Monfils, among other notable names. Notably, rising Chinese talent Shang Juncheng is also confirmed to compete. He has secured multiple victories in Grand Slam main draw matches, propelling him into the world's top 100 rankings. Further details on the participant list will be revealed in the upcoming weeks.

Chengdu successfully introduced the tournament in 2016. For this year's event, the total prize purse exceeds 1.26 million U.S. dollars (about 9.046 million yuan).
