Chengdu's Pilot Initiative: First Batch of Mobile AED Taxis Hits the Streets |
|
Recently, the reporter learned from Chengdu Public Transport Group that its subsidiary, Chengdu Rongcheng Taxi Co., Ltd., has equipped designated taxis with Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and first aid kits in their trunks. This move marks the official launch of Chengdu's first-batch pilot project for Mobile AED taxis.
The AED is a portable medical device designed for use by non-medical personnel in rescuing individuals experiencing cardiac arrest. In such cases, using an AED to perform defibrillation and CPR within the first four minutes, known as the "golden four minutes", can significantly increase the chances of preventing sudden death.
The Mobile AED taxis in Chengdu operate on a "flag down" service model, providing immediate life-saving assistance to citizens in emergencies, ensuring prompt medical aid is delivered when needed. These Mobile AED taxis are fitted with prominent AED markings on their bonnets and sides, facilitating quick recognition by the public in emergencies. Furthermore, to prepare for potential critical situations, Chengdu Public Transport Group has strengthened emergency response training for its drivers, ensuring they are equipped to deliver timely and professional first aid services when needed.
Alongside the debut of Mobile AED taxis, Chengdu Public Transport Group has installed Fixed AEDs at four major transit terminals, such as the Jinsha bus hub and Chengduxi Railway Station bus hub. These Fixed AEDs work in tandem with the Mobile AEDs, broadening the reach of emergency medical equipment and improving rescue effectiveness. |
