On November 18, Sichuan Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce hosted a press conference in Chengdu to officially announce the Top 100 Private Enterprises in Sichuan in 2022. New Hope Holding Group Co., Ltd. (252,652 million yuan), Tongwei Co., Ltd. (108,272 million yuan) and Lanrun Group Co., Ltd. (73,365 million yuan) ranked among the top three in terms of revenue. 

The threshold for the list of this year reached 2,978 million yuan of revenue, an increase of 897 million yuan over 2021. The total revenue and total assets of the Top 100 Private Enterprises reached 1,420,065 million yuan and 1,531,007 million yuan respectively, an increase of 266,757 million yuan and 109,598 million yuan respectively over 2021.  

At the meeting, the Research and Analysis Report on 2022 Sichuan's Top 100 Private Enterprises was released. The Report analyzed the overall scale, operating performance, regional distribution, and social contributions of the Top 100 Private Enterprises in detail.  

The overall scale has grown steadily, and nine are among China's Top 500 Private Enterprises 

According to the Report, the overall scale of the Top 100 Private Enterprises, as the bellwether of Sichuan's private economy, has grown steadily, and their operating performance has been significantly improved. 

The threshold for entering the 2022 Sichuan's Top 100 Private Enterprises reached 2,978 million yuan, an increase of 897 million yuan over 2021. The total revenue of the 2022 Sichuan's Top 100 Private Enterprises reached 1,420,065 million yuan, an increase of 266,757 million yuan over 2021. Their total assets reached 1,531,007 million yuan, an increase of 109,598 million yuan over 2021. In addition, nine of Sichuan-based enterprises ranked among China's Top 500 Private Enterprises in 2022, 15 among China's Top 500 Private Manufacturing Enterprises in 2022, 13 among China's Top 500 Private Enterprises in R&D spending in 2022, and 18 among China's Top 500 Private Enterprises in invention patents in 2022. 

The total after-tax net profits of the Top 100 Private Enterprises in Sichuan in 2022 reached the highest in the past five years, or 67,125 million yuan, an increase of 16,646 million yuan over 2021. The number of enterprises among the Top 100 Private Enterprises that secured the net profits of more than 1 billion yuan hit 22, an increase of 13 over 2021. Tongwei Co., Ltd. (9,188 million yuan), Sichuan Hebang Investment Group Co., Ltd. (3,913 million yuan) and Sichuan Desheng Group Vanadium and Titanium Co., Ltd. (3,020 million yuan) ranked among the top three in terms of after-tax net profits. 

The development pattern features "one trunk with multiple branches", and 16 enterprises pay taxes of over 1 billion yuan 

In terms of regional distribution, 82 of the Top 100 Private Enterprises in Sichuan in 2022 are in Chengdu Plain Economic Zone, nine in South Sichuan Economic Zone, six in Northeast Sichuan Economic Zone, two in West Panzhihua Economic Zone, and one in Northwest Sichuan Ecological Economic Zone. In terms of the distribution in cities (prefectures), 44 of the Top 100 Private Enterprises in Sichuan in 2022 are in Chengdu, 12 in Deyang, eight in Mianyang, and six in Suining. The four cities have the four largest numbers of enterprises among the list in the province. The regional distribution still maintains a development pattern of "one trunk with multiple branches". 

In terms of enterprises' international development, Sichuan's Top 100 Private Enterprises in 2022 recorded the export volume of 12.39 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 8.18 billion U.S. dollars over 2021. Zhongjia Automobile Manufacturing (Chengdu) Co., Ltd. contributed 6.6 billion U.S. dollars or 53% to the total export volume of the Top 100 Private Enterprises. In 2022, the overseas revenue of the Top 100 Private Enterprises was 7.35 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 1.65 billion U.S. dollars over 2021. The number of enterprises among the Top 100 Private Enterprises that have participated in the Belt and Road cooperation was 30, an increase of six over 2021. 

The number of enterprises among the Top 100 Private Enterprises that issued a social responsibility report in 2022 was 39, two more than in 2021. The total tax payment of the Top 100 Private Enterprises was 57,037 million yuan, an increase of 16,833 million yuan over 2021. The number of enterprises among the Top 100 Private Enterprises that paid taxes of more than 1 billion yuan was 16, an increase of seven over 2021. The total number of employees in the Top 100 Private Enterprises reached 724,800, with a year-on-year increase of 6.85%. 

Technological innovation has been advanced, and total R&D spending grows 34.27% year on year 

According to the relevant person in charge from Sichuan Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce, in 2022, under the encouragement, guidance and support of the Party and the government, Sichuan's Top 100 Private Enterprises continued to grow bigger and stronger in the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, accelerated the pace of transformation and upgrading, deepened technological innovation and brand building, actively participated in and integrated into major national strategies, and achieved remarkable results in enterprise governance and credit system development according to law. 

The Report shows that striving to make enterprises bigger and stronger is still the main reason for the transformation and upgrading of the Top 100 Private Enterprises in Sichuan in 2022. Among them, 89 enterprises promoted their transformation and upgrading by focusing on the development of their main businesses and strictly controlling the quality; 85 enterprises achieved industrial upgrading through technological transformation and equipment upgrading; 73 enterprises carried out digital transformation to accelerate the release of innovation momentum. 

In terms of technological innovation, the total R&D spending of Sichuan's Top 100 Private Enterprises in 2022 reached 16,655 million yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 34.27%. Tongwei Co., Ltd. ranked first in terms of R&D spending. Chengdu Kanghong Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. secured R&D intensity of 28.98%, becoming the only enterprise with R&D intensity exceeding 10%. Sichuan's Top 100 Private Enterprises in 2022 had 17,138 valid patents and 15,562 trademarks at home and abroad, an increase of 2,265 and 2,191 respectively over 2021.
